Getting started
Mneme doesn't react when I hold the dictation key
Mneme needs three permissions, all shown on its Home screen. In System Settings › Privacy & Security, make sure Mneme is switched on under Microphone, Input Monitoring and Accessibility. After allowing Input Monitoring, macOS may ask you to quit and reopen Mneme.
Pressing fn opens the emoji picker
In System Settings › Keyboard, set “Press 🌐 key to” to “Do Nothing”. Or choose Right Option or Right Command as your dictation key in Mneme's Settings.
The first launch says it's preparing the model
The first time Mneme starts, macOS prepares the speech model for your Mac's Neural Engine. This takes up to a couple of minutes and happens once; after that it loads in under a second.
Text appears in the wrong place, or isn't pasted
Mneme pastes at your cursor, so click where you want the text before you start speaking. If nothing is pasted, check that Mneme is allowed under Accessibility in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
Using Mneme
How do I dictate hands-free?
Tap your dictation key instead of holding it. Speak, then tap again to finish, or pause and Mneme stops by itself (you can change how long it waits in Settings). Press Escape to cancel.
How do I undo a dictation?
Press ⌃ ⌥ Z straight away, in the same app (Mneme Pro). If you've typed since, use ⌘ Z instead.
Smart clean-up feels slow
Smart clean-up runs a second, on-device language model after transcription, which adds a moment. The local model usually takes under a second; Apple Intelligence can take a few seconds. Press Escape while “Polishing” is showing to paste the plain transcript, or turn smart clean-up off in Settings.
How do I delete my history?
Open Mneme's History section and choose Clear. To stop saving history, turn off “Keep history on this Mac” in Settings.
Purchases
I bought Mneme Pro but it isn't unlocked
Open Mneme Pro in the sidebar and choose Restore Purchases, signed in to the same Apple Account you used to buy it.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings › Subscriptions, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What does the free plan include?
10,000 dictated words each calendar month, resetting on the 1st, with live preview, hands-free mode and history. Mneme Pro adds unlimited dictation, smart clean-up, app styles, snippets, file transcription, stats and undo.
Requirements
A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 26 or later. Mneme understands English.
